The B5853ST is a clear glass numeric nixie tube manufactured by United Electron. It was specifically made to use in multiplexed application, that explains the high value for the current. In direct drive mode, the current has to be a lot lower. It was also manufactured by Burroughs and is specified a "low-cost tube".
